Students Occupy Buildings at Universities in Turkey

Beginning on June 10th, 1968, students occupied the faculty offices of Language-History-Geography at the University of Ankara.  By June 12th, the Faculty of Law at Instabul University had been occupied. Altogether some 20,000 students went on strike nationwide, including universities in Erzurum and Izmir. The students at the faculty of philosophy, history and geography in Ankara occupied the faculty buildings and denied professors access. The students demanded the dean’s resignation.
