Pierre Vallières Publishes "White Niggers of America"

The fascinating autobiographical work by the radical leftist Montrealer, Pierre Vallières, was published in February 1968 by Editions Parti Pris of Montreal.

Pierre Vallières was a working class leftist Quebecois, who spent his life agitating for leftist causes and independence of Francophone Quebecois culture.

In 1961, along with Charles Gagnon, another leader of the Front de libération du Québec [FLQ], Vallières denounced Quebec's situation before the United Nations in New York. Both men were promptly arrested and imprisoned. 

While in prison, Vallières wrote his famous Nègres blancs d'Amérique book. In his Autobiographie précoce d'un terroriste pamphlet, he invited Quebecers to take up arms against the establishment, the only means for Quebec to achieve independence.

The English translation of "White Niggers of America" appeared in 1971.
