On February 18th, 1968, large protests took place in the streets of Kurfürstendamm in Berlin-Charlottenburg.   These protests were largely driven by anti-war groups in the universities and Leftist organizations (as can be seen in signs showing Chairman Mao, Che Guevara, and Rosa Luxembourg).

These movements presaged the growing social unrest in Germany, which exploded across campuses and city streets throughout the year.
