Dynamite Topples Power Transmission Lines At U.C. Berkeley


Power was disrupted at U.C. Berkeley and the Lawrence Radiation Laboratory on March 20th, 1968, when two 115,000 volt transmission lines were toppled.   According to the House Committee on Un-American Activities Report on "Subversive Influences in Riots, Looting and Burning," the tower carrying the power lines was dynamited at 1:40 am, and power restored at 8am.
