King Assassination Riots, the Holy Week Riots



In the wake of the assassination of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the United States was engulfed in riots in many cities throughout the land.

The outburst of anger, passion, and violence was the greatest wave of social unrest the United States had experienced since the Civil War.

Cities directly impacted by major rioting included: Washington D.C., Chicago, Baltimore, Kansas City, Detroit, New York City, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Trenton, New Jersey, Wilmington DE, Louisville.
