Rolling Stone #10 Blasts the Yippies in Chicago

Only six months old, Jann Wenner's magazine connected with an audience through music and anti-authoritarianism.   On May 11th, 1968 the tenth issue of the magazine appeared, featuring an interview with Eric Clapton, who was then touring the West Coast with his band, Cream.

However, the main political op-ed in this issue was Jann Wenner's reactionary article attacking the Yippie movement, and especially Abbie Hoffman, for attempting to align the youth radical movement with rock and roll.   Nonetheless, Wenner quickly reversed the position of Rolling Stone, when he found out that radical writing (not the least being stories by Hunter S. Thompson) sold more copies.
