Riots break out in Paris

Students face off with police in the streets.

The tensions mounting over the student sit-ins at the Sorbonne, and recent arrests of student protesters finally break out into wide-scale protests and riots in Paris.

This upsurge in rebellion becomes known as the Events of May, 1968.
